We are happy to pick up people biking on the Alps to Ocean Trail.
Activities to engage in during your stay include stargazing, visiting the pet sheep, cows, goats, hens, dogs and horses, going for a walk on the Valley View Walk (45 minute walk) or the Pihiohio Ridge Walk (2 and half hour walk), or if arranged prior to your stay we can also sometimes offer horse riding, four-wheel-drive trip over farmland, a ride in a side by side motorbike, watching dog trialing or sheep shearing. Or you simply relax in peace and tranquility.
A continental breakfast including cereals, bread, spreads and fruit is included in your fee.
We have a full kitchenette in the accommodation as well as a washing machine, iron, heater and fan.

We have a full kitchenette in the accommodation which includes a fridge with a freezer box, convection microwave, stove top, kettle, toaster, plates, glasses, pots, bowls and utensils. A free continental breakfast is included in your stay. As we are located rurally (30 minutes from the nearest town), we do have a mini cash bar available which includes items such as wine, cheese, crackers, chocolate, chips and peanuts. We also have available some frozen meals such as pizzas, pies and lasagnas. A gas bbq is also available on site free for guests use.

The accommodation was once a school in the 1920s. The entranceway was once the clockroom, there is still the paint on the floor from children's art work from long ago, you can see the mark on the ceiling where the old pot belly fireplace once stood to warm the teacher and children and if you look real closely you may even see where one cheeky child etched their name in the top of one of the window panes.
This place is good for a romantic getaway for couples, a country retreat, a solo trip for stress relief or a way to see the raw of the New Zealand countryside.
You have the whole accommodation to yourselves and the large garden section. The cottage includes a comfortable queen sized bed, sofa bed, linen, full kitchen facilities, flat screen tv, washing machine, iron, heater, fan, hair dryer and toiletries.

People love the quaintness of staying in a historic school, the stunning views and the peace and tranquility of the rural setting as well as the many pet farm animals to visit, a walk over the hills or relaxing with a drink on the deck in the sun or under the millions of stars.
We offer a range of activities and/or opportunities to immerse yourself in the day to day farm life. Fun activities can be added to your stay and experience if arranged prior to the visit.
We have two marked walking tracks over the farm that take in views of the hills, mountains, ocean and the beautiful North Otago landscape.
Valley View Walk - 3.5km (approximately 1 hour)
Pihiohio Ridge Walk - 8km (approximately 2.5 hours)
Pets - we have a range of pets which include Roger the goat, the free range hens, pet sheep, calves, dogs, cats and horses.
Petanque - we have a petanque set kept at the accommodation that you have free use of to play on the large front lawn.
Star Gazing - we have a fabulous Sky-Watcher Telescope available for hire for $25 for the duration of your stay.
Farm Activities - we also have horse riding, four wheel drive excursions, dog trialing, sheep shearing and a ride on the side by side motorbike or time immersed in the day to day life on the farm available by prior arrangement. Prices for farm tour activities vary.

A truly wonderful place to stay. Located in the countryside, so you wake to the sound of bird song in the morning. Cute place, with good amenities (everything you need for making a meal!), and a lovely sense of history about it. Would happily stay there again.
The House is a unique and historic home away from home. It has more amenities than you would expect. The location is quiet and 'retreat-like' amidst green conifers, hills and pasture land. It was a real treat to be able to stay here. We were made very welcome.
The wee schoolhouse is the most wonderful place to stay in the Oamaru area. It is about 30 minutes from town but you are in the middle of the countryside with the most amazing vistas around you. The schoolhouse is just gorgeous - it's been decorated beautifully and you have EVERYTHING you could need! The bed is sooooo comfortable - the Wifi is excellent - the breakfast options are delicious! Loads of space to move but still cosy and warm. I cannot recommend it enough!

About your host, Nic
My husband and I are sheep and beef farmers on the foothills of Five Forks (30 minutes drive inland from Oamaru).
My husband is fourth generation on the farm, so we are passionate about the land, area and community. We have three children ranging from ages 8 - 18. During our spare time we enjoying camping, fishing, spending time at the lakes or just plain old fashioned family time together.
We love to share our piece of paradise with our guests and indulge them in the farming environment with showing them over the farm if arranged prior.
