**Wild Coast Eco Cabins are on hold over summer through to the end of February**
This is a 120-acre farm on the west side of Mount Karioi. We are a family-run farm that has been in operation for 24 years. Our eco-cabins and horse treks have been running for the past 20 years and we love sharing our little bit of heaven with you.
We do allow dogs however they incur an additional fee per night. They also must be with you at all times or tied up as we have stock and are surrounded by other farms.
Both cabins are perched on the edge of a valley covered by native bush that we have spent the last 20 years regenerating and have views of both the Tasman Sea and Mount Karioi. The studio-style cabins are off the grid - but with all the essential amenities to make your stay comfortable. There is no power outlets or wifi or even cell phone reception so you can completely switch off from your busy life for the duration of your stay. Both cabins are equipped with kitchens with gas cooking and a fridge and all the utensils you may need. Linen and towels are provided.
Windyflax can sleep up to 3 people and Watersong can sleep up to 4 people. Water for the cabins is from a nearby spring from under the mountain, beautiful to drink and soak in. The valley the cabins overlook is alive with bird song and you can hear the rocky bottom stream that flows through the middle of it. Watch the sunset and see the milky way without any light pollution.
We are very conscious about our environmental footprint and we try to recycle as much as possible and cut down on waste.
There are many walks around our property that you are welcome to enjoy. We are only a 20-minute walk to Ruapuke Beach with its beautiful black sand.
We offer 2 or 3-hour horse treks that explore the surrounding native bush and go along Ruapuke Beach. Our treks are world-renowned for the beauty that surrounds us and for the beautiful horses we have. We ride twice daily and cater for all riding abilities from complete novice to experienced rider.

Fully fuctional kitchen with freestanding oven and stove and small fridge. All the utensils you will need, fresh tea and coffee are provided. Food hampers are available at extra cost on request to save you the hastle of bringing all your groceries out. We are half an hour from the closest shops.

Our world-famous 3 hour (half day) extreme horse adventure with an edge will take your breath away. The bush, the birds, the streams, the environment at Ruapuke, the salt, the sun, the wind, the Ocean (and yes – you DO get to go in it!) the awesome guides and of course – the horses!
This ride has it all, and is the perfect length of time for most people, riders or not. You just need to be keen and a little adventurous, we will look after you. Novice riders are very welcome, Wayne always makes sure he matches you with the perfect horse. If you’re a more experienced rider, we will cater for you too with a more challenging ride. All our horses are beautiful, intelligent and colourful!
This trek has all the ingredients of the real deal – the same great horses, same great guides and same great environment; just a little shorter. Bush – Farmland – Beach. We think this option works perfectly for families who have limited riding experience or for those on a tight schedule! Don’t miss our authentic beach horse trek experience.
Take the stress out of having to bring your own food with you. We will provide you with a dinner of steak or lamb with seaonal veggies/salad and local bread and a breakfast of bacon and eggs. All food that you need will be there for you to cook at your leasure. We try our hardest to provide all locally sourced produce.
Add a Romantic Hamper to your nights stay in our wonderful cabins. A few local treats including chocolates, cheeses and bubbles. We also include a lovely bath soak for you to use.
