It is our pleasure to share our place with you. It is one of a kind historic property. Here you have a fully equipped self-contained/catering accommodation choice offering a unique and peaceful stay.
Somewhere to unwind and relax away from the day to day hustle and bustle of the modern technical world, where you can enjoy being close to the West Coast bush and nature, with rustic elements and yet modern comforts.
The main carriage has a comfortable queen bed made up European style, with an electric blanket, a seating area to relax overlooking the large pond, and a small dressing room space with an area for luggage storage.
Across the covered deck "platform" you will find the purpose-built structure "train station" housing a fully equipped kitchen with a 2 burner gas cooktop, microwave, and small fridge, as well as a modern bathroom with shower, sink and toilet.
Outside nestled against the bush you will find the rustic outdoor bath area with hot water on demand.
We do not have a TV, though we do have free wi-fi which we ask you to use responsibly.
For your comfort and convenience during your stay you will find a hairdryer, hard-wired USB charger ports, spare blankets, knee rugs - for those clear chilly nights stargazing and a few other added extras.
The area from the car parking space and surrounding the train carriage complex is pathed for your convenience.
To fully appreciate this place and its peace and tranquility, multiple-night stays are recommended.
We are close to a wonderful rugged West Coast Beach with many more walks, beaches and lakes a short drive away.
We do not charge a cleaning fee and ask that you leave the place as you find it.

Our place was built in Christchurch in 1907 and was used all over New Zealand's South Island until March 1963 when it was involved in a runaway train crash at Moana (Lake Brunner).
The accommodation is located in the middle of our 4 1/2 acre property, secluded from our house (for most of the year, expect Winter when the trees are bare).
The carriage itself houses the bedroom and dressing/luggage area and overlooks the pond, behind the carriage, there is a purpose-built" station" which houses the kitchen and bathroom as well as the outdoor bath area, all with a native bush backdrop.

Unique, historic, tranquil, and private accommodation 15 minutes South of Greymouth, 2 mins drive to Shantytown and 5 mins drive to the Wilderness Cycle Trail. The carriage was originally built in 1907 as a guards van and crashed at Moana in 1963. Nestled at the far end of the large pond in a secluded area of our 4 1/2 acre property with a raw native bush backdrop, the setting sun, abundant bird song, and local wildlife. We promise to offer you a relaxing and peaceful stay away from the pressures of modern living.
Breakfast example - the exact contents may differ - Toast, condiments, eggs, yogurt, fruit, tea/coffee/milk/sugar.

About your host, Sarah
Hi. We moved to NZ from UK in 1997. David, my husband, is from New Zealand, and we met in Denmark where we lived for several years in the 80's. We have two grown up children and three grandchildren who we see often. We are family focused, we love our home and the West Coast, but also enjoy exploring the country in our caravan and the occasional overseas holiday. We like to grow vegetables and some fruit - although sometimes we are not that successful. We keep chickens, who provide all our fresh eggs, and we usually have some sheep who do a great job of mowing the lawns in our back paddocks. We are keen DIY-ers who love to up-cycle, mend and re-purpose. We look forward to welcoming you to our place.
